Import a Car From the USA to Germany
Germany is one of the most common destinations for American-market vehicles. It is also one of the most technically demanding, because registration depends on compliance with applicable technical inspection and approval rules.
Typical route
U.S. inland transport to an East Coast or Gulf export port, ocean freight to a North Sea port such as Bremerhaven or Hamburg, then customs clearance and inland delivery.
Duties and taxes
EU customs duty and German import VAT apply to passenger vehicles. Rates depend on classification and declared value; all figures we provide before assessment are estimates.
Registration
Registration generally requires technical approval and inspection. Lighting, emissions and instrumentation may require modification on some U.S.-specification vehicles. We assess feasibility per vehicle rather than promising registration.
Vehicles we are asked for most
Full-size pickups, American muscle, Corvettes, full-size SUVs and U.S.-only trims of German brands.
Duties, taxes, homologation and registration requirements are set by public authorities and can change. We never guarantee that a specific U.S.-specification vehicle can be registered in Germany; feasibility is assessed per vehicle before you commit.
